NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF WELDED BEAM-COLUMN JOINTS IN ALUMINUM STRUCTURES

The objective of this study is to compare the performance for welded beam-column joints in aluminum structures using moment-rotation diagrams and evaluate influence welding on joint rigidity. A nonlinear numerical calculation beam–column performed finite element method. Material geometric nonlinearities were included model. connection was analyzed two cases: variants with without stiffener plates. Two material models used. first derived from applicable standard structures, while other based results a previous calibrated separate calculation. From calculations, different geometries properties constructed compared. obtained stiffened unstiffened demonstrate that stiffening improves terms higher rigidity, resistance, ductility, regardless existence heat affected zone.
